Springsteen Demands Name Removed from Lawsuit

A New York City bar chain is facing legal action from ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and rocker Bruce Springsteen after allowing a band to perform the Boss' music without paying the appropriate annual licensing fee.

However, while ASCAP was prepared to move forward in court to recoup the necessary fees, Bruce Springsteen was actually unaware that he was involved in a lawsuit.

"In regards to the ASCAP lawsuit against Connolly's Pub and Restaurant, ASCAP was solely responsible for naming Bruce Springsteen as a plaintiff in the lawsuit," said representatives for the Jersey rocker in a statement yesterday (Feb. 4th).

"Bruce Springsteen had no knowledge of this lawsuit, was not asked if he would participate as a named plaintiff and would not have agreed to do so if he had been asked. Upon learning of this lawsuit this morning, Bruce Springsteen's representatives demanded the immediate removal of his name from the lawsuit."
