Amy Adams to Star as Janis Joplin in Upcoming Biopic

Actress Amy Adams, known for her roles in movies like Julie & Julia, Enchanted and Doubt, is set to play Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic entitled Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can.  Rolling Stone reports that the movie will be directed by City of God director Fernando Meirelles and will go into production in 2011.  The script was written by Ron Terry but so far no studio has said they'll release the movie.

This isn't the first time a Joplin biopic has been attempted.  Two other films have been in the works for years but have so far stalled.  One film, called The Gospel According to Janis, has been kicked around for 10 years and has had actresses Zooey Deschanel, Lily Taylor and pop star Pink slated to play the 60's singer.  In 2003, actress Renee Zellweger was attached to a project called Piece of My Heart, which has since been canceled.
